Surf and Remote Work on Siargao, Philippines
By Offshore Stays Editorial
Siargao is a small island in the southern Philippines, famous for Cloud 9, a powerful reef break that draws experienced surfers. General Luna is the main base, with cafes, surf shops and places to stay within a short ride of several breaks.
Surf
Cloud 9 is for experienced surfers. Other breaks around the island suit intermediate and beginner surfers, and local schools can point you to the right one for the day. The main surf season is generally from around August to November, with smaller and calmer conditions at other times.
Working from Siargao
It is an island, so infrastructure is less predictable than on the mainland. Ask your host about their connection and backup, carry a local SIM, and plan important calls for times you have tested. A slower pace is part of the appeal.
Getting there
Siargao has its own airport with flights from larger Philippine cities, and there are ferries from the mainland.
