About
Casa Paço D'Ilhas sits in Paço de Ilhas, a small rural village with a heritage dating back to the 13th century, where the kings of Mafra once came for summer. The guesthouse is run by two surfers, Justin and Jelle, and mixes traditional heritage style with contemporary comfort. Guests share a nearly 200-year-old main house with fireplace, honesty bar and a sunlit veranda, a garden with hidden corners and two pools, a sun lounge, an organic veg patch, a children's playground, an ocean-view yoga deck, a yoga shala and massage studio, and a firepit for bonfires under the stars. Rooms range from a basic twin with shared bathroom to a five-person oceanview house.

Work setup
Unlimited WiFi is included in every room. There is no dedicated coworking space, so remote work happens in the sunlit veranda, the garden corners or your own room. The WiFi speed has not been measured yet.

Surf
Ericeira is Europe's first World Surfing Reserve, with waves for every level. The hosts' main surfing spots are Praia do Matadouro and Praia do São Julião. Surfboards are available to rent, there is an ISA-licensed surf school (maximum 6 surfers per group), and guests can try boards from local and international brands at the test centre. Stand-up paddle and kitesurf lessons and rental are also offered. Prices on request at info@casapacodilhas.com.

Community
A small, social stay. Guests share the pools, garden, firepit and veranda, and eat from a breakfast buffet with a daily special, plus lunches and dinners made with local, organic-where-possible ingredients (vegetarian and vegan options). Daily yoga with teacher Karol de Souza (private class €60, group class from 3 people €20 each) and massages (60 min €75, 90 min €105) are available on site.

Deluxe double room, about 15 m², in a two-storey house. Private bathroom and separate toilet downstairs, master bedroom upstairs with an extra-large sliding window looking out to the Atlantic in the distance, and a cosy private outdoor lounge. Two people. Breakfast and WiFi included.
Casa Celeiro
Rustic family house, about 35 m², in a fully renovated barn. Open-plan with a basic kitchen, fridge, fireplace, lounge, bathroom with walk-in shower and separate toilet, and an outside terrace. The mezzanine sleeps four (1 double bed or 2 single beds). Breakfast and WiFi included.
Casa Privada
Oceanview deluxe family house, about 60 m²: the whole upper floor of the original 1869 main house, with a 180-degree panoramic view over the Atlantic. Living and dining area, three separate bedrooms (2 double beds, 1 single bed), basic kitchen, fridge, bathroom with bath, fireplace and an ocean-view terrace. Sleeps five. Breakfast and WiFi included.
Casa Palheiro

Jelle and Justin
Justin and Jelle are two Belgian surfers and kitesurfers who met in Belgium and dreamed of combining their passions for travel, the ocean and food in a hospitality business with a personal twist. Justin is a level 2 kite instructor. Jelle volunteers with the Kovalam Surf Club in India. They opened Casa Paço D'Ilhas near Ericeira.
How to get here
Casa Paço D'Ilhas is at Estrada da Junceira, Paço de Ilhas, 2640-825 Ericeira, and is easily reachable from Lisbon. By car, a rental car is the most flexible option. A private transfer can be arranged on request (Lisbon Airport to Ericeira from €70 each way). Buses run to Ericeira with Mafrense (mafrense.pt). Contact the hosts to arrange the last stretch.

- Prices are per room per night, VAT included, with breakfast and unlimited WiFi.
- Local tourist tax of €2.40 per person per night is paid at check-out.
- 100% prepayment is required; the booking is confirmed once the full payment is received.
- Cancellation more than 1 month before arrival: 50% refund. Less than 1 month: no refund.
- July and August: Saturday to Saturday bookings only (minimum 1 week). June and September: minimum 2 nights.
- Open 15 March to 14 December; outside this period the hosts open on request.
- Baby cot for children under 3 is free. An extra bed is available in most rooms for €50 per night (breakfast included).

More than 1 month before arrival you can request a 50% refund. Less than 1 month before arrival there is no refund.
