About
Barefoot is a guesthouse and coliving house in Santo Isidoro, in the Ribeira valley outside Ericeira, run by Marion and her family. It has six private rooms, each with a private bathroom, and shared spaces: a living room with a fully equipped kitchen and fireplace, a coworking space, a therapy room used for yoga, breathwork and massage, and a garden with a pool, sunbeds, a veranda with barbecue and a big Portuguese table. Prices include high-speed internet, weekly cleaning and heating in winter (with responsible use). Ericeira centre is 5 minutes by car and Lisbon airport about 40 minutes.

Work setup
The coworking space has 6 communal desks on 2 tables and a phone booth for private calls, with a coffee corner (filter machine and grinder) and fresh tea. Every room also has a table or desk and chair, and there is high-speed internet through the whole house. The use of the coworking space is included for guests. The garden and therapy room are there for breaks.

Surf
Ribeira d'Ilhas, one of the seven spots of the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve, is a 10-minute walk from the house. The house has an outdoor shower and a surf shed to store your gear. The hosts connect guests with local partners for surf coaching and surfskate.

Guests are freelancers, remote workers, surfers, yogis and nature lovers. Daily life includes shared meals, weekly and monthly activities such as breathwork, yoga and cooking workshops, a fire bowl in the garden and music nights, all optional. A cozy, light room on the ground level, next to the old pine tree. Small queen-size bed (120x200) with storage underneath, private bathroom with rain and hand shower, a desk with a height-adjustable stool and a relaxing chair by the window. 13 m², 1-2 guests. The Fruity Garden
A single room on the ground level, close to the common areas, overlooking the front garden with its apricot tree. Marion
Marion is from the Netherlands. After years in Utrecht she followed a dream to the ocean and, with her partner and three kids, settled in Portugal. She created the idea of a 'mature hostel': the coziness of a hostel, where you meet people, and the comfort of a hotel, where you can retreat. The Barefoot Guesthouse was the result.
How to get here
Barefoot is at Estrada Ribeira d'Ilhas 67, 2640-051 Santo Isidoro, in the Ribeira valley. From Lisbon airport it is about 40 minutes by car on the highway (toll road, bring coins or a Via Verde reader). A private transfer arranged by the hosts' driver costs about EUR 45 one way (EUR 50 outside 07:00-19:00); an Uber is about EUR 40-60. By public transport, take a bus from Campo Grande to Ericeira (about an hour, around EUR 7), then an Uber to the house (about EUR 4). Ericeira centre is 5 minutes by car, 15 by e-bike or 50 on foot, and the house is in a valley so every route back is uphill.

- Minimum stay is one month. Short stays are only welcome in high season (June to September). Low season is October to May.
- Check-in 14:00-20:00 (there is no 24h reception, so share your arrival time), check-out 08:00-11:00.
- No pets, for hygiene and allergy reasons.
- Electric heaters are in every room in winter; please use them responsibly, otherwise a fee is charged.
- Washing machine: EUR 2.50 per wash, or EUR 10 if the hosts also hang and fold your clothes.
- Breakfast is not included; an optional Barefoot Breakfast Box can be ordered.
- Cancellation for stays under 30 days: full refund 15+ days before arrival, 75% within 14 days, 50% within 7 days, none within 48 hours. For stays over 30 days: full refund 30+ days before arrival, 50% between 30 and 14 days, none inside 14 days.

Yes. There is high-speed internet through the whole house, a coworking area with 6 communal working stations and a phone booth, and every room has a table and chair.
›How far is the surf?
Ribeira d'Ilhas, one of the World Surfing Reserve spots, is a 10-minute walk from the house. There is an outdoor shower and a surf shed for your gear.
›Is breakfast included?
No. Breakfast is not included but you can order the Barefoot Breakfast Box, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a shelf in the fridge for every room.
›Is there heating in winter?
Yes, there is an electric heater in every room. Please use them responsibly, otherwise a fee is charged. Portuguese houses can be cold and moist in winter, so bring layers.
›Do I need a car?
Not necessarily. Ericeira centre is 5 minutes by car, 15 by e-bike and 50 on foot, and an Uber to town is about EUR 4. The house is in a valley, so the way back is uphill; a car or e-bike is recommended to explore.
›Are pets allowed?
No, for hygiene and allergy reasons pets cannot be accommodated.
