Why List Your Surf House or Coliving on Offshore Stays

Offshore Stays is a marketplace for one kind of guest: remote workers who surf. If your house, camp or coliving is set up for people who work in the morning and surf in the afternoon, this is a place designed for you. Here is what hosting here looks like.

A focused audience

General travel platforms show your property to everyone, which means you compete on price with every hotel in town. Offshore Stays is narrower. Guests arrive looking for a place to work and surf, so wifi, desks and proximity to a wave are the things they compare, not just the nightly rate.

You decide how bookings are confirmed

Each property is either instant booking or booking request:

  • With instant booking, the stay is confirmed when the guest pays.
  • With booking requests, nothing is confirmed until you accept. The guest's card is only held, not charged, and it is captured when you say yes. If you decline, the hold is released.

There is a second safeguard: if any night of a requested stay has no price in your calendar, the booking is automatically treated as a request rather than guessed at. The full explanation is in booking requests vs. instant booking.

Long-stay and solo pricing built in

Remote workers stay longer, and you can reward that. Set a long-stay promotion and it applies to the price automatically. For private rooms you can also set a discount for solo travellers. The two stack sequentially, so a private room with a 20% solo discount and a 15% long-stay discount is priced at the base rate times 0.80 times 0.85. Shared rooms and dorms only receive the long-stay promotion. See how long-stay and solo discounts work for a worked example.

Calendar sync

Already listed somewhere else? Import your calendars by iCal so that dates blocked on other platforms are blocked here too, and keep your availability accurate in one place.

Early-host visibility

We are launching with a small number of properties. Early hosts appear on their location page and in search while the platform is new, and they help shape what we build next. Our destination pages for Canggu, Ericeira and Taghazout show where we already operate.

How to get started

Create a host account, add your photos, rooms, amenities and prices, and submit your property for review. Once it is approved, it goes live. If you would like to talk it through first, email hi@offshorestays.com.
